Snow in Dudley

I got my wish, more snow! I stayed in Dudley this time. Maybe more later. I'm so iffy on my snows, so if they look wrong, please tell me. 3/4 of my waking hours I'm convinced my eyes are shot, not good.

ClarkU Rooftops

So, sometimes I really suck. Like when I include the railing of what I'm on in my photos. I feel like I got across what it was like to be out on this night, but the edges really offset everything for me. It's not cropable without losing a good amount of what I like the most about it, so I'm just going to wait until this happens again so hopefully I can retake these photos.

Brit

I've started using 35mm color film as it's much easier to bring in my bag with me when I go out with Brit(she's the one in the pink, the other is her best friend). I noticed she's no longer a part of my photos, and I felt I needed to change that. I keep vowing to go home every weekend(only a 25min trip) and photograph my family, but that was a failed project before it even began. (Why'd I take 5 classes?) Well, I'm resurrecting it, now. I feel a big need to photograph the people I know and the things I know, that have been in my life forever. It's getting back to the reason why I had any interest in photography. Anyways, it's honestly more important than the towers of school work I have.

One night I decided to conquer a fear. That is, being afraid of how long to expose a night photo. So I played around with different times, for this shot I did a 5,10, and 15 minutes exposure. This one is the 15 minute one. I think what I gained the most from this photo is learning the amount that stars move in 15 minutes. So that sort of thing really fascinates me, I just haven't gone out on a clear night yet. And I'm not sure what anyone really thinks of this photo. I really love it. I like the blue and spurts of red and yellow. That sort of thing gets me too. Another thing is that it's very nostalgic. This is looking from my backyard into my neighbors backyard. And that big tree thing closest to the foreground is one of the trees my dad had planted when we moved in. And this night was a night that reminds me of being little and playing in the snow late at night with my brother and sisters. So I don't know if that skews my judgment more than it should. I'd like to think I know enough to know if it's a good photo or not. I'm entering it into arts worcester anyways.

Blow ya Horn and an Update

This was the very end of November, I think. Taken in Winchester, MA. Underneath the bridge in the middle of a rotary there was stored a bunch of Christmas outside decorations, I'm assuming belonged to the town. Why they were there, who knows, but they were definitely in a storage mode, the way they were set up. I conveniently lost my cable release which I had had about an hour before. I searched and searched, and never found it. I've gone through about three in the past semester. If you're ever at a loss of what to get me, for whatever reason you're getting me something, and want to be cheap, go with a cable release. I could probably use a good stock of them. If I keep them everywhere, I might be alright.
With that said, having lost my cable release, a decent amount of the photos were not so sharp. I also have a sucky tripod, and I'm not kidding when I tell you it's a ten dollar tripod. I'm in the market for one of those, so if you REALLY like me, that's what you'd get me. But really, don't worry. within a month I'll be taking a trip to calumet photo with 150-200 dollars to buy a decent one that I can trust.
Getting back to the image, this is one that I really wish I had spent more time in the environment. I was frustrated with the cable release, and didn't think I'd have any come out sharp. Sorry excuses.
So, I guess I vow to now always have ten cable releases, five on my person/in my bags, the other five in my car. Also, I vow to spend more time with my subjects, even if they are made of plastic or whatever they make those things out of. I guess I could do him the decency of looking that up. It was actually pretty cool be down there. Winchester, or at least the area I went in Winchester, is definitely a return visit type of place. I bet it looks great in the snow.
Well, we started school again, I graduate in a year and that's a terrifying thought. So far, my only goal for after graduating, is to not die. Well, in all honesty I have more goals than that, but they're not something I enjoy talking about. They're great goals, but I'm not ready to tell anyone I plan on doing something, even with the warning there's a great chance I might not, because it feels like a wasted plan and a let down to the people I tell. And when and if I've moved on from that idea, I don't want to be reminded of what I didn't do that someone thought I would do.
I should probably go back to reading, If I'm going to be ahead of the game, I better start early.

Youngin'

I find a lot of things funny. I kick myself for not shooting as much as I want to, out of fear of the person I'm approaching will say no, or I will fumble too much. I don't think I take as much time as I should taking a photo. This was a rushed one, I was really nervous.(Should I even be telling you this?) First night ever really using a flash with the intention of conquering it, and it's working, in my opinion. This is from Halloween night, I happened upon a Baby Dinosaur eating M&Ms off the floor while grown-ups just stood around.
